Dell Unveils their Windows 7 Tablet

Windows 7 TabletDell has finally expanded their technology to include the hot ticket item right now, tablets. Their first release into the market comes as a 10.1-inch Windows 7 tablet designed for users “who need greater mobility, as well as IT organizations that demand control, security, manageability and integration with existing infrastructure investments,” according Dell.

The Windows 7 Business Tablet, which will include an Intel processor, could possibly be available by the middle of the year. This new tablet was among 39 new products unveiled at the company’s Dell Means Business event in San Francisco last Tuesday. These new products included laptops, desktops, workstations and a convertible tablet known as the Latitude XT3.

However, the one thing most people are going to be talking about that came from the event is the Win Tablet. There are hardly any specifications about the device available and a release date and price are nowhere to be found, aside from knowing it will be coming this year, but that won’t stop people from discussing it.

A lot of businesses prefer Windows because it works well with their IT scheme, according to Vice President and General Manager of Dell’s Commercial Client Product Group Steven Lalla in a statement from the event. “Not to say Android doesn’t,” he added. However, Lalla did maintain that a larger piece of the business sector wants to go with Microsoft.

This new touch-screen tablet will also come in a 10-inch Android version supposedly known as the “10-inch Android Tablet”, at least at the moment. This means that neither the 10.1-inch Windows Tablet nor the 10-inch Android Tablet will fall under the Streak banner.

A lot of people are excited for the Windows Tablet from Dell. Windows 7 is one of the most successful operating systems to come out of Microsoft since Windows XP and is an OS that a lot of businesses are clearly adapted to. Adding that functionality in a tablet, I feel, will make the mobile tech feel more at home for business people who are used to running everything on Windows 7.

We are eagerly awaiting more specs on the Win Tablet as well as a solid release date and price. The only release date we have is “sometime this year” which, to be honest, isn’t good enough. Keep checking back here periodically as we will be rolling out all the details on Dell’s 10.1-inch tablet as they arrive.
