Samsung and Apple have been stuck in a vicious legal battle for quite some time now and it is only getting bigger. Apple has been granted full access to Samsung devices that the company has stated violate patents held by Apple. Well, Samsung decided to try the same tactic and asked the courts for samples of the iPad 3 as well as the iPhone 5, despite the fact that both devices have yet to be announced. Apple has now gone back and amended its patent complaint.
Apple has asserted that Samsung is violating even more of its patents and expanded the complaint against Samsung even further. The main things in this new document include a more strongly phrased complaint as well as more detailed copycat accusations. Apple lists even more examples than before of how and when Samsung duplicated its products. Apple cites specifically the Samsung F700 as the first act of copying designs by Samsung.
Apple extended the list of products that it feels Samsung copied off of its designs. The original list of products consisted of the Samsung Captivate, Continuum, Vibrant, Galaxy S 4G, Epic 4G, Indulge, Mesmerize, Showcase, Fascinate, Nexus S, Gem, Transform, Intercept and smartphones along with the Samsung Galaxy Tab.
The new amendment adds to the list the Droid Charge, Exhibit 4G, Galaxy Ace, Galaxy Prevail, Galaxy S (i9000), Gravity, Infuse 4G, Nexus S 4G, Replenish, Sidekick, Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Galaxy S II. In addition to that, the complaint also lists the Showcase i500 as well as the Showcase Galaxy S.
That is a lot of devices from Samsung and it appears that this battle is getting very big very quickly. Where it will go from here is anybody’s guess but things are starting tilt a little in favor of Apple.
